Students in 4S (a.k.a. 4th Grade Mrs. Sunderman's class) are studying persuasive writing. To learn about persuasive writing we have been studying children's literature to help us figure out how writer's attempt to persuade their audience. We have read Click, Clack Moo Cows That Type, Dear Mrs. LaRue, My Teacher for President, and lots of other stories. We have learned that authors use opinions backed by facts to try and persuade their audience. We know they use phrases like: I would, I promise, I believe, you should, and you could to try to persuade their audience.
Now the students are beginning to write their own persuasive letters. They have chosen a topic and audience to persuade. They have brainstormed reasons to help convince their audience to believe as they believe or do as they want them to do.
Check back next week to see how their letters are coming along!
